TL;DR – How to skip ahead of long lines at Athens Acropolis

The Acropolis is Athens’ busiest site, with ticket-booth waits of 45–120 minutes in peak season (Apr–Oct). Security checks (20–40 minutes) apply to all visitors. Timed entry is mandatory. Book ahead, aim for early morning or late afternoon, and use the south (Theatre of Dionysus) gate for shorter queues.

  • Timed-entry ticket (From €36) : Bypass the on-site ticket lines and get guaranteed entry at your chosen time slot. You still queue for security. Limited daily capacity; book ahead. Add a multilingual audio guide for context.
  • Guided tour (From €49–70) : Includes timed entry plus a 2-hour small-group tour of the Parthenon, Erechtheion, Theatre of Dionysus, and more.
  • Combo with Acropolis Museum and Parthenon (From €49) : One ticket for both the Acropolis and its world-class museum, with multilingual audio guides or live tours.
  • Athens MegaPass (From €79) : Covers fast-track entry to the Acropolis and multiple top sites (Acropolis Museum, Ancient Agora, Temple of Poseidon, etc.), plus a 2-day hop-on hop-off bus and eSIM data. Best if you want to see more of Athens with one pass.

Easy to access online or through QR code. I do think it should be clearer up front the audio tour is through the app not on a device you collect at the museum. As an international traveler downloading apps can be difficult. Overall easy process and lovely museum.

Perfect for our family to have tickets in advance with clear instructions, as well as very interesting and informative audio tour guiding our visit. Made for an easy, very enjoyable way to experience one of the most amazing sites of Athens. Greek warmth, hospitality, and culture just adds to the experience.

My trip to Athens lasted only 3 days, but it was outstanding! On the first day we visited the ancient Agora during the morning, and from mid-afternoon the Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sunius. Acropolis tickets included everything (except the museum): from the Parthenon to the Theater of Dionysus. I strongly recommend going to see the Acropolis very early, such as at 8 o'clock or a half hour before opening, otherwise you will find a lot of tourists as happened to me. Then again, the Temple of Poseidon is the Acropolis only the most visited places in all of Greece. As for the Temple of Poseidon, it all went perfectly! From the very nice and helpful guide, the relaxing bus ride to the spectacle the temple had to offer. It was very windy, both at the Acropolis and Cape Sunio, but the weather was still great! As for the service in general, it was really excellent, accurate and fun. I highly recommend this ticket if you want to have a beautiful memory of Greece!

We loved that they let you in 15 minutes prior to your experience. It was quick and efficient. Once in, it was crowded, however people were spread out throughout where you didn't feel as though you were right next to other guests.

Beautifully laid out museum that flowed through the various structures of the Acropolis. A must see before you tour the Acropolis. Definitely worth your time.

Book fast-track tickets to the Acropolis

Avoid the ticket-office queues and head to the gate after a quick security check. Timed-entry access reduces waits from 60 to 90 minutes to about 15 to 20, giving you more time to explore the Parthenon, Erechtheion, Temple of Athena Nike, and the sweeping hilltop views over Athens.

What does 'fast-track entry' really mean for the Acropolis?

The Acropolis priority entry tickets let you bypass the ticket office and head straight to the entry gate at your reserved timeslot. Security screening is mandatory for all visitors and can take 15 to 30 minutes. During peak summer hours, queues at the ticket booth can stretch up to 90 minutes, so booking online typically reduces entry time to around 20 to 30 minutes. Popular areas on the hill may still feel crowded, especially between 10am and 1pm.

How long are the queues at the Acropolis?

The Acropolis draws over 3 million visitors to the site throughout the year. Its immense popularity means you may be left sweltering in the Greek summer sun for about 1 to 3 hours as you wait at the entrance. But, fret not! The Acropolis fast-track tickets will help you save time and allow you to bypass long ticketing lines.

Know your queue at the Acropolis

The Acropolis archaeological site has 2 entrances, one on the western side, and another on the southeastern side. Your wait times will vary depending on which entrance you choose.

General wait time: 40 to 45 minutes during the peak summer months
With fast-track tickets: 20 to 30 minutes

The security check for Acropolis is compulsory and takes around 30 to 40 minutes during the peak summer months, between June to August. The Acropolis fast-track tickets will help you skip the long ticketing queues and head straight to the security checks.
